Programs and Services



Relaxation Class meets 2nd and 4th Thursdays from 3PM to 4PM.

Exercise and movement are designed to accommodate individuals' needs.

Due to the generosity and support of the community,
all programs and services are offered at no charge.


For Breast Cancer Patients & Survivors
  • Support Group meets 1st and 3rd Tuesdays from 5:00PM to 6:00PM.
  • Sisters of Survival (SOS) • a mentoring program for newly diagnosed women.
  • Patient Support Kits Information Packets:
    The packets are distributed to surgeons to present to their patients upon diagnosis of breast cancer and prior to surgery. The BCRC is currently distributing Quiet Voices into four counties within the Greater Puget Sound area.
  • Resource room with wigs, head coverings, bras and prostheses.
  • Library of books of books and videos for check-out on a monthly basis.
  • Customized Stress Reduction
    Yoga meets every Thursday from 5:15PM to 6:15PM. Classes are led by Registered and Certified Yoga Teacher Hal Meng and more information about his practice can be found at his website.
    Relaxation Techniques: A workshop of gently guided movement to reduce tension and anxiety commonly experienced. Meets 2nd & 4th Thursdays from 3:00PM - 4:00PM
  • Customized Exercise - Monday, Wednesday and Friday 9:15AM to 10:15AM.
    Mondays - Low Impact Step/Ball taught by Mary Senecal, ACSM certified personal trainer.
    Wednesdays - Yoga taught by Teresa Enslin, a certified, registered yoga teacher.
    Fridays - Stretch and Tone taught by Christy Hill, a breast cancer survivor and soon-to-be graduate of Ashmead Fitness Training Program


For Chemotherapy Patients
  • Look Good, Feel Better helps patients who are undergoing chemotherapy learn about applying makeup, wig styling and self care. Classes meet every other month from 5:00PM to 7:00PM. Please call 752-4222 for meeting dates and registration.
  • Managing Hair Loss taught by Shari Cupit, meets during the months when Look Good, Feel Better is not offered and is designed to help women suffering from hair loss due to chemotherapy. Whether you are in the market for or already have a wig, this class can help you make informed choices and provide solutions to a variety of wig-related issues: where to shop, how to select a realistic and comfortable wig at an affordable price, sizing and comfort, care and care products, cutting and styling to fit your face, and simply how to wear your wig well. Classes will be held monthly on Tuesdays at 6:00PM. Call the Center for dates and registration.


Outside groups also meeting at the BCRC:
  • Sisters of Hope • a spiritual and social based support group for women of color. Meets the 1st Monday of the month at 6:30PM.

Early Detection Program for the General Public
  • Community Outreach Workers are available for Breast Health educational presentations, health fairs, farmers markets, church groups, or private gatherings.
  • Vouchers for free diagnostic ultrasounds and mammograms for women under the age of 35 who are low income and uninsured; for men of any age who are low income and uninsured; requires a doctor's order or clinic referral for diagnostic ultrasound or mammogram.
